'Back in 2012, when the founders of Aslan Brewing Company in Bellingham, Washington, were deciding what kinds of beers to make, they knew that organic hops and malt were up to three times as expensive as conventionally grown varieties. Still, they saw plenty of good reasons to assume those costs.

“We wanted to have the highest-quality ingredients, which means organic in our eyes,” says Jack Lamb, Aslan Brewing’s CEO and co-owner. Plus, he says, “it feels good to brew organic beer. It feels right.” '
