‘No one should use Big Pharma’s toxic drugs to support the myth of brain chemistry imbalances. Even the FDA prohibits prescribing these to children under five. Yet in 2013 the number of babies under one year of age in the USA prescribed dangerous psychotropic drugs was well over a quarter-million.

First of all, psychiatry is a fraud from top to bottom. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-5) contains 300 or more mental disorders that are mostly opinions based on observations. A handful of senior shrinks meet to create a consensus for each edition of this bogus manual. It wouldn’t be so bad if shrinks had stuck to talk therapy.’

'Red wine is the only vice some health-conscious people will permit themselves—after all, since the early '90s, the elixir has been touted as a health food. Studies continue to prove that resveratrol, an antioxidant found in red wine, protects against cancer, heart disease, is anti-aging and may even extend your lifespan. There may be a few surprises hiding under the cork, however. Incidental ingredients like pesticides, allergens and animal proteins may be contaminating your wine.'

'If you want to know how to heal a sunburn in just under 24 hours, I’ve got a trick for you. All it takes is two simple, real foods.

Seven big reasons why cantaloupe belongs on your table

'Cantaloupe and other melons are the most easily digested food there is, leaving the stomach in just 10 to 15 minutes and requiring no enzyme production on our part.  While most foods drag us down by the effort needed to digest them, cantaloupe is uplifting and provides instant and sustainable energy.  But that’s not all it provides.

Cantaloupe is a storehouse of powerful nutrition and one of the most important sources of carotenoids, compounds related to Vitamin A, a fat soluble vitamin.  The most well known carotenoid, beta-carotene, has been shown to be highly effective in the prevention and treatment of cancer.  Cantaloupe is loaded with beta carotene, so don’t forget to pick up a cantaloupe or two when you shop.'

Cherry Compote over Goat Cheese

Recipe: Cherry Compote over Goat Cheese

'One of the best things about summer is that wonderful, fresh organic fruit literally grows on trees! Fruit trees are such a great investment. Although they do take some work (think picking up hundreds of smashed peaches in your yard after a wind storm, or scraping baked-on apricot off your driveway with a snow shovel) fruit trees are well worth the effort.

A mature fruit tree will produce many pounds of fruit every year, often enough for you to can, freeze, dehydrate, and give away…even after you’ve enjoyed eating a ton of fresh, delicious fruit fresh off the tree! Nothing is better than fruit ripened in the sun, eaten minutes after it’s been picked.'

'It’s anti-microbial, anti-fungal, great for eliminating candida, inexpensive, and best used in its liquid form – and it’s not colloidal silver. It’s a concentrated extract of grapefruit pulp and seeds known as grapefruit seed extract (GSE), not to be confused with grape seed extract.

Grapefruit Seed Extract for Candida

Though sold in capsule form, concentrated liquids of GSE have more applications as long as you don’t get any into your eyes, open wounds, or take straight without diluting (usually 10 drops) in water or juice. GSE producers claim it has a high rate of success with Candida if taken two or three times daily while abstaining from alcohol, refined sugars, and processed grains or refined carbs.'

Don’t Stress Over Stress: 17 Ways to Handle Stress

Stress

“One of the things I’ve observed in myself, as well as others, is we get stressed out when things don’t go as we planned and others don’t do what we like them to do.”

Even though we’re dedicated to leading a healthy and fit lifestyle, our lives are still stressful. You’d likely agree with me if I claimed that being healthy and fit can offset some of the stress, but surely not all of it.

And we all want a stress-free life, right? It would be fun to sit around a table with you all, sipping our beverages of choice while discussing whether obtaining a stress-free life is possible, or even good for us.

And while here at Renegade Health the benefits of many different diets are discussed, I don’t think I’ve heard anyone mention the LSD plan. That’s my acronym for the Low Stress Diet!

Since our diet discussion would be enhanced by taking a brief look at the science of stress, let’s do that first."

Mustard seeds can fight cancer, treat inflammatory conditions and more

http://www.learningherbs.com/image-files/mustard-8.jpg

'The seeds of the mustard plant have enjoyed a close connection with human civilizations since time immemorial. The Ancient Greeks and Romans would regularly use them for cooking, and they have been a staple in Indian cuisine for centuries. These robust, spicy-smelling seeds were even mentioned in the New Testament of the Bible in the "Parable of the Mustard Seed," in which Jesus emphasized that the Kingdom of Heaven could grow from humble beginnings.

Sadly, the mustard seed's reputation has dwindled in recent times due to its connection to mustard, which in turn is connected to fast food such as burgers and hot dogs. This is unfortunate, since both mustard seeds and the popular condiment they produce contain many significant health benefits.'

5 Health Myths Spread by Mainstream Nutrition

Lies the Media Tells You

Eggs are bad for you. High fructose corn syrup is no different from other sweeteners. These are the myths spread by mainstream nutrition—and they’re all wrong.

'It was Benjamin Franklin who was quoted as saying, “Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see.”

This may be good advice to follow when listening to the media about health and nutrition. New studies are published every day, and many times they directly contradict the findings of earlier research.

We all thought taking a multivitamin everyday was beyond questioning, for example, until recent studies found that it made no difference in the health or longevity of patients.

It can get confusing sometimes, so to help provide a little clarity, we’ve listed some of the popular myths below that have been spread by mainstream nutrition—and have since been proven to be false.'

EDITOR'S NOTE: Both of the items covered in this article are chemically sprayed heavily. Choose organic or locally grown on small farms you know.

'While eating an apple a day could keep the undertaker away, a cooked tomato may be the biggest source of a powerful antioxidant to prevent disease.

Eating tomatoes can help reduce the risk of cancer, osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. Not only that, but cooked tomatoes are actually better for you than raw ones.

U.S researchers found the juicy vegetable is the biggest source of powerful antioxidant dietary lycopene, and unlike other fruit and vegetables it has greater potency after it is cooked.

Lycopene is the red pigment in tomatoes and several fruits. According to the UT scientists, it is a potent carotenoid -- a group of naturally occurring pigments essential for plant growth -- with a high ability to quench singlet oxygen.'

'The sun gives life to almost all beings on this beautiful planet we call Earth, including ourselves. We wouldn’t be here without the sun and we certainly wouldn’t survive long without it. Different species of mushrooms have valuable benefits.

'Understanding how food interacts with our bodies and the role it plays in healing various health conditions can be helpful. Whether food is used as part of a medical treatment or a prevention-focused diet, knowledge is power. Though some may disregard medicinal food, medical researchers have proven how prescriptive diets have been used to minify health risks. One such functional food is mushrooms. There are currently 38,000 discovered and classified species of mushrooms that hold medicinal benefits.

In the last two decades there has been widespread interest in the role of the immune system for maintaining good health. According to a study on medicinal mushrooms, diseases related to immune dysfunction “such as cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome, AIDS/HIV, hepatitis and autoimmune conditions” are gaining wide attention from medical researchers and clinicians. As a result, practitioners are looking to mushrooms for their medicinal effects on the immune system.'

Sandalwood Essential Oil

 http://www.herbs-info.com/images/Sandalwood.jpg

‘Sandalwood essential oil is traditionally produced from the heartwood and roots of the trees by a multi-stage distillation process. [1] The wood is ground to powder and then steam distilled. In modern times however, supercritical Carbon Dioxide is sometimes used to extract the sandalwood oil without using heat. As the heat of steam distillation alters some of the molecules, CO2 extraction results in a sandalwood oil that has a different scent profile to that which was steam distilled - and this is closer to the smell of the original wood (although this does not necessarily mean it is preferred as a fragrance). [4]

It is widely agreed that the older the sandalwood tree, the better the oil quality and the higher the oil content. [5] The trees take 60 to 80 years to reach full maturity [3] although they are often harvested much younger for quick profits.’

"A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones."~Proverbs 17:22

'It saddens me to see older women diagnosed with "osteopenia" or "osteoporosis" listening to their doctors and taking supplemental calcium and even problematic drugs called bisphosphonates.  These are irrational, dogmatic, harmful approaches to the problem of degrading bone as we age.  In my time practicing nephrology and internal medicine, I saw numerous patients suffering from vascular disease while taking the recommended doses of calcium.  X-rays revealed perfect outlines of calcified blood vessels and calcified heart valves.'

What a Shaman See’s In a Mental Hospital

'In the shamanic view, mental illness signals “the birth of a healer,” explains Malidoma Patrice Somé.  Thus, mental disorders are spiritual emergencies, spiritual crises, and need to be regarded as such to aid the healer in being born.

What those in the West view as mental illness, the Dagara people regard as “good news from the other world.”  The person going through the crisis has been chosen as a medium for a message to the community that needs to be communicated from the spirit realm.  “Mental disorder, behavioral disorder of all kinds, signal the fact that two obviously incompatible energies have merged into the same field,” says Dr. Somé.  These disturbances result when the person does not get assistance in dealing with the presence of the energy from the spirit realm.

One of the things Dr. Somé encountered when he first came to the United States in 1980 for graduate study was how this country deals with mental illness.  When a fellow student was sent to a mental institute due to “nervous depression,” Dr. Somé went to visit him.'

6 Reasons to Drink Coffee Before Your Workout

'For years, physicians have been warning about the negative health effects of drinking coffee. You may have been told that coffee will raise your blood pressure, lead to heart disease, give you an ulcer or make you diabetic. But studies continue to roll in that caste doubt on this "common wisdom."

Certainly, like anything, coffee should not be used in excess. However, study after study has failed to prove that moderate coffee consumption increases your risk for cardiovascular disease or any other serious illness.

In fact, it's beginning to look like coffee—at least in moderation—may have a number of unrecognized health-promoting properties. As a result of the rather impressive list of therapeutic benefits, I've changed my recommendations about coffee.'
