'Processed foods are bad. They are the main reason why people all over the world are getting fat and sick. How do we know?

Every time a population adopts a “Western” diet high in processed foods, they get sick.

It happens within a few years. Their genes don’t change, their food does.

Real vs Processed Food

The word “processed” often causes some confusion, so let me clarify what I mean.'

Now, though, a new study published in the Journal of Psychiatric Research has documented that people diagnosed with schizophrenia who use marijuana—also called pot or cannabis—live longer than those who don’t, and alcohol use has no impact on lifespan. The authors concluded:'

'Boost your energy with molasses. Not only does it taste good, its also a rich source of iron, (one tablespoon contains 4.5gms of iron), which means its particularly good for pregnant or menstruating women, vegetarians and people suffering from anemia. It’s much healthier than many other sources of iron because it is low in calories and completely fat free. Molasses is also a rich source of calcium which strengthens bones, teeth and heart muscles. It’s also rich in copper, manganese and potassium.

What is blackstrap molasses and what is the difference between regular molasses and blackstrap molasses? Regular molasses is the first or second boiling of cane sugar syrup while blackstrap is the third boiling of the syrup. Iron levels appear to increase 5% in the 3rd boiling.'

Psychobiotics: Bacteria For Your Brain?

'Every functional medicine psychiatrist has case stories of the 'probiotic cure' – of a patient with debilitating symptoms, often obsessive compulsive range, whose symptoms remitted completely with dietary change and probiotic supplementation. Is this voodoo or is it based on a growing understanding of the role of the microbiome in mental health and behavior? For two decades now, pioneering researchers have been substantiating inflammatory models of mental illnesses such as depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.

Research has focused on markers that indicate immune distress in an important subset of patients, many of whom are labeled "treatment resistant."

Strong evidence from several studies have shown that individuals consuming fruits and vegetables rich in different flavonoids have a reduced risk of overall mortality and of several chronic diseases. According to new research from the University of East Anglia (UEA) and King's College London, eating high levels of flavonoids including anthocyanins and other compounds (found in berries, tea, and chocolate) may prevent type 2 diabetes, a disease whose initial stages is now affecting almost 40 percent of Americans age 20 and older.

Woman Shrinks Inoperable Mass and Heals Her Thyroid Disease With Cannabis Oil

'In May 2011, it was discovered through a blood test at a routine Dr. visit that I was pregnant and also displaying signs and symptoms of Hyperthyroidism . Immediately I was placed on medication to control my thyroid and that is when my problems really started. I stayed very sick on the medication and my Dr. felt my concerns of being 'poisoned' were over-exaggerated.

I felt like I was dying, but I was afraid to go against the doctors orders as I was still suffering terribly inside from the loss of my last pregnancy. I had lost my last baby in my 5th month of pregnancy and no one had any answers 'why' or what had went so wrong. That kept me sad and secretly confused - I did everything 'by the book', there was NO REASON for the miscarriage, and no explanation of any kind except the repeated phrase 'Only God knows why'.

'Statin drugs may very well become the largest criminal act ever committed upon the American public.

This study, reviewing the so-called scientific studies backing the rationale for cholesterol-lowering statin drugs, is probably the most comprehensive one to date.

It is: ... “a comprehensive review of Pubmed, EMBASE and Cochrane review databases was undertaken for articles relating to cardiovascular primary prevention and statin side effects with the aim of harmonizing their roles within contemporary clinic practice.”

And the conclusion of this review of the scientific studies?

“The findings on statin major adverse effects had been under-reported and the way in which they withheld from the public, and even concealed, is a scientific farce.”'

Nutrition Advocacy Group Makes Headway in Protecting Your Freedom of Choice

'When it comes to nutrition, it is very important that you have the right to freedom of choice and information. Unfortunately, organizations such as the American Dietetic Association (now calling itself the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or AND) are threatening your freedom of choice about health and nutrition.

The AND has pushed state laws to block almost anyone, except their registered dietitians (RDs), from legally giving nutritional advice.

Their mission is to censor the broader nutrition community, which includes many well trained and educated practitioners, such as clinical nutritionists, pharmacists, naturopathic doctors and traditional naturopaths, acupuncturists, herbalists, nurses, mental health professionals, homeopaths, personal trainers, and the like.

Though it may seem incredible that laws have been crafted to create a de facto monopoly for one private group, this is exactly what's happened. Why should you be concerned?'

Make Your Own All-Natural Sleep Aid

'I am fairly confident that most of us, at some time in our lives, have experienced trouble sleeping.

For some of us sleeplessness can come during times of transition…like when we move into a new home or travel. This type of disturbance in our sleep pattern will usually only last for a couple of nights.

Then there’s the type of insomnia that carries on for a couple to three weeks and is usually caused by anxiety or stress.

On the other hand, it’s chronic insomnia — or poor quality of sleep occurring three or more nights a week for months at a time – which can be a real cause for concern and generally requires an investigation to uncover the root cause of the problem.'

Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Depression & Bipolar Disorder All Linked to Metal Toxicants

 http://blog.naturalhealthyconcepts.com/wp-content/heavy-metal.jpg

'Metal toxicants entering the part of the brain that deals with stress and panic have been linked to disorders dealing with the central nervous system. Increasing evidence indicates that damage to the locus ceruleus (LC), is present in a wide range of neurodegenerative diseases including demyelinating and psychiatric disorders.

There are a growing number of Clinicians and Scientists who are convinced that excitotoxins and heavy metals play a critical role in the development of several neurological disorders, including migraines, seizures, infections, abnormal neural development, certain endocrine disorders, specific types of obesity, and especially the neurodegenerative diseases; a group of diseases which includes ALS, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, Huntington’s disease, and olivopontocerebellar degeneration.'

‘On March 29, 2009, Robert Stewart, 45, stormed into the Pinelake Health and Rehab nursing home in Carthage, North Carolina and opened fire, killing eight people and wounding two. Stewart’s apparent target was his estranged wife, who worked as a nurse in the home. She hid in a bathroom and was unharmed. Stewart was charged with eight counts of first-degree murder; if convicted, he could face the death penalty.

Even though there was evidence that Stewart’s actions were premeditated (he allegedly had a target), Stewart’s defense team successfully argued that since he was under the influence of Ambien, a sleep aid, at the time of the shooting, he was not in control of his actions. Instead of the charges sought by the prosecutors, Stewart was convicted on eight counts of second-degree murder. He received 142 – 179 years in prison.'

At this time in history, a bill was appropriated for 100 million dollars to anyone who could show promise and results in treating cancer. Dr Gerson in 1946 presented 5 terminal cases and 5 additional patients’ records showing his effective treatment and cure of all of these cases. Well, guess what? The Pepper-Neely bill was defeated by four senators who were medical doctors.'

Sweden Becomes First Western Nation to Reject Low-fat Diet Dogma in Favor of Low-carb High-fat Nutrition

'Dr. Eenfeldt also translated an article from a local Swedish newspaper covering the committee’s findings:

Butter, olive oil, heavy cream, and bacon are not harmful foods. Quite the opposite. Fat is the best thing for those who want to lose weight. And there are no connections between a high fat intake and cardiovascular disease.

On Monday, SBU, the Swedish Council on Health Technology Assessment, dropped a bombshell. After a two-year long inquiry, reviewing 16,000 studies, the report “Dietary Treatment for Obesity” upends the conventional dietary guidelines for obese or diabetic people.

For a long time, the health care system has given the public advice to avoid fat, saturated fat in particular, and calories. A low-carb diet (LCHF – Low Carb High Fat, is actually a Swedish “invention”) has been dismissed as harmful, a humbug and as being a fad diet lacking any scientific basis.'

Do You Need A Healthicine?

Do You Need A Healthicine?

'Healthicines increase healthiness. Medicines decrease illness. It's easy to say, but it can be very difficult to understand clearly. Are "alternative medicines" healthicines or medicines? Are vitamins healthicines, or medicines? Are herbal medicines healthicines or medicines. Let's begin with some simple examples, where the lines are very clear.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. An apple is a healthicine, not a medicine. You can eat as many as you want. Your children can eat them. Apples don't make you healthy 'quickly', health is created slowly, "an apple a day". Apples don't fight specific illnesses, they improve general healthiness. If you are sick, an apple won't make you well and if you eat too many, you will get diarrhea. But if you are sick, an apple a day will still help you be healthy. You don't need a prescription to buy an apple.'

Scientists use honey bees' propolis to treat aluminum toxicity

 http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PEtQTcaPSD0/UTfds4RzPbI/AAAAAAAABpk/bM9QHa-Z280/s1600/bee-propolis.jpg

'Honey bees are tireless workers, committed to sustaining life for all through pollination of various plants and crops. Honey bees are effective natural chemists as well. By collecting resins from leaf buds and vegetables, they are able to produce propolis.

Bees create propolis from their environment in order to disinfect their beehives, seal cracks, build panels and even embalm intruders. Propolis is an effective antimicrobial agent, useful for disinfecting. Humans can collect and utilize propolis for personal health reasons.

Scientists from Jiwaji University, Gwalior, India, have found promising evidence showing how propolis treats aluminum toxicity.'

10 Reasons Why You Need Vitamin B12

Mussels

'Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that keeps the body’s nerve and blood cells healthy. It is involved in the metabolism of every cell in the human body, and is necessary for DNA synthesis and regulation, as well as fatty acid synthesis and energy production. The benefits of vitamin B12 start in the womb, are vital during infancy, and protect you from disease throughout your life.

Not getting enough B12 causes tiredness, weakness, changes in elimination, loss of appetite, and weight loss—all symptoms of megaloblastic anemia, a condition characterized by very large red blood cells. It comes on slowly, especially when compared to that of other types of anemia, so can be hard to diagnose in its early stages.'

How the Cycles of Light and Darkness Affect Your Health and Wellbeing

'While it may not be immediately obvious as to why, light is actually crucial to your health. I've always believed that you could have the ideal lifestyle with respect to the food you're eating, the water you're drinking, and exercise, but if you don't sleep well, you're just not going to be optimally healthy.

Poor sleep inevitably leads to health problems. Maintaining a natural rhythm of exposure to daylight, and darkness at night, is an essential component of sleeping well.

Researcher Dan Pardi, who is employed by the Behavioral Sciences Department at Stanford University, also works with the departments of neurology and endocrinology at Leiden University in the Netherlands.

"I look at how sleep deprivation, or not getting enough sleep or the amount of sleep that you need, can influence decision making and cognitive processes like reaction time, memory, impulsivity, and how that relates to food choice," he explains.'
