Marijuana has been found to suppress cancer, reduce blood pressure, treat glaucoma, alleviate pain and even inhibit HIV. It is an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective. New Cancer/Fungus Theory

'This video and chapter offers crucial information about the relationships between cancer and infectious threats that every cancer patient and their family must be aware of. The truth that we must stare down is that cancer and infections cannot be separated from each other.

Cancer—always believed to be caused by genetic cell mutations—can in reality be caused by infections from viruses, bacteria, and fungi. I believe that, conservatively, 15 to 20% of all cancer is caused by infections; however, the number could be larger—maybe double, said Dr. Andrew Dannenberg, director of the Cancer Center at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Dannenberg made the remarks in a speech in December 2007 at the annual international conference of the American Association for Cancer Research.

Whether caused by infections or not, once cancerous conditions are well underway the weakening of the immune system and the battle that ensues between the good guys and the bad is cheered on by hordes of infectious agents that increase in density, power and form as a patient’s cancers get worse.

Cancer also involves inflammation, acid pH, low oxygen conditions accompanied by low CO2 levels, lower core body temperatures as well as nutritional deficiencies and high levels of tissue and cellular toxicity with heavy metals, chemicals and radiological exposure.'

Knee Arthritis Pain? Try This Food—Study Shows It Works!

Sesame Seeds

'The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) state that nearly one in two people will develop symptomatic knee osteoarthritis by the age of 85 years. While total knee replacement surgery is an option, implants are expected to last only 15 years or so, prompting many sufferers to wait as long as possible before swapping out their own knees for new ones made of metal and plastic.

During the painful years, though exercise and glucosamine supplements may help to some extent, most people turn to over the counter pain relievers for daily relief. These often include Tylenol (acetaminophen) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like aspirin and ibuprofen.

These medications come with side effects, however. Already the makers of Tylenol face a number of lawsuits across the nation because of acetaminophen overdose, which is linked with severe liver damage. NSAIDs also come with potential side effects over the long-term, including edema, gastrointestinal upset, and ulcers.

The Surprising Healing Qualities… of Dirt

'Recently I’ve been enjoying dirty thoughts.

I spend my days in a sterile 8×10 room practicing family medicine and yet my mind is in the soil. This is because I’m discovering just how much this rich, dark substance influences the day-to-day health of my patients. I’m even beginning to wonder whether Hippocrates was wrong, or at least somewhat misguided, when he proclaimed, “Let food be thy medicine.” Don’t get me wrong—food is important to our health. But it might be the soil where our food is grown, rather than the food itself, that offers us the real medicine.

We tend to think of our brain as the command center from which all physiological functions stem. But there is another intelligence in your body that you may not realize... and its importance to your health may be the key you're looking for when searching for the cause of chronic illness and even mental health issues.'

Millions Falsely Treated for Cancer says National Cancer Institute

'A significant number of people who have undergone treatment for cancer over the past several decades may not have ever actually had the disease, admits a new report commissioned by the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI). Published online in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), this government study identifies both over diagnosis and misdiagnosis of cancer as two major causes of the growing cancer epidemic. These two together have led to millions being falsely treated for cancer with surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, who in reality had no such cancer.'

How the rest of the world brushes their teeth

'There’s a 99 percent chance you are not super rich. But there is a good chance that you are part of the orally hygienic elite 1 percent.

While it’s common in the U.S. and other developed countries to use nylon and electronic toothbrushes, most of the world’s population, especially indigenous cultures and developing countries, still use old-world techniques to keep their teeth clean — if they use anything at all.

But are modern oral hygiene products and techniques infinitely better than the sticks, animal bristles and bones, twigs, feathers and porcupine quills that non-first-world societies used centuries ago — or continue to use today — to clean their teeth?

Is what one eats more important in determining oral hygiene than the materials used to clean the teeth and gums?

In other words, if tribes, clans and indigenous societies stick with their traditional diets and don’t eat processed sugar and junk food, is teeth-brushing even necessary?'

Documentary: The Family Meal

The Family Meal

Family Dinners May Be a Growing Trend

'The family meal hit a low point in the 1950s, the era of the TV dinner and the cultural shift that began to regard cooking dinner for the family as a major inconvenience. As foods become more readily available and storable in the freezer and in the pantry, the idea of cooking from scratch became almost passé.

Today in the US, we’re largely a nation of “heater-uppers” -- not cooks – and this means less time spent together with your family during the traditional ritual of preparing a meal. That being said, this seems to be changing, perhaps because people are beginning to miss the security and the socialization that family meals impart.

One study conducted earlier this year found that most US families eat dinner together most nights of the week, and 34 percent eat together seven nights a week. And wouldn't you know… 84 percent said that the time their family eats together is actually one of their favorite parts of the day.'

How Big Pharma Markets to and Profits from a ‘Can’t-Pay-Attention Nation’

‘What came first: the disorder, the cure, or the marketing campaign to sell both?

“You’re talking about a product that’s having a major impact on brain chemistry. Parents are very susceptible to this type of stuff.” –Roger Griggs, pharma exec who now objects to ad campaigns

In the case of medicating a generation of children who were said to be “unusually hyperactive,” the answer to that question is addressed by an in-depth investigation by the New York Times on Monday showing that the meteoric rise of diagnoses of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (A.D.H.D.)—a trend that spawned a pharmaceutical gold rush over the last twenty years—was, in fact, fueled by an industry-led marketing campaign that targeted struggling children, worried parents, and an army of doctors willing to diagnose and prescribe.

And what’s worse? The deep-pocketed, pill-pushers are now looking to expand.’

Sugar and Your Brain: Is Alzheimer’s Disease Actually Type 3 Diabetes?

http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage/2008/12/05/donuts_lead_wideweb__470x234,0.jpg

'It starves your brain, tangles and twists vital cells, and for decades it has been misrepresented as an untreatable, genetically determined disease. Alzheimer's disease is the 6th leading cause of death in North America1. The truth, however, is that this devastating illness shares a strong link with another sickness that wreaks havoc on millions of individuals in North America — Diabetes.

We all know that individuals affected by Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes have a notable resistance to insulin. Type 1 is caused by the body's inability to produce insulin, and Type 2 is caused by the deterioration of the body's insulin receptors and associated with the consumption of too much refined carbohydrate like processed grains and sugar.

But when studies began to appear in 2005 that revealed a shocking correlation between insulin and brain cell deterioration, major breaks were made around Alzheimer's prevention[i]. Health practitioners became curious about a critical question — could Alzheimer's disease simply be Type 3 Diabetes?'

You might be surprised to learn that much of the seafood sold in the U.S. is imported—frequently from places where health, safety and environmental standards are weak or non-existent. And less than 2 percent of seafood imports to the U.S. are inspected for contamination.

Sadly, many popular wild fish populations have been managed poorly and are depleted, are caught using gear that can hurt their habitat and other wildlife, or could contain substances like mercury or PCBs that can cause serious health problems.'

One of the healing medium used for centuries is meditation, a practice in which an individual trains the mind or induces a mode of consciousness, either to realize some benefit or as an end in itself.

Meditation affects your psychological well-being by reducing stress, depression, anxiety, blood pressure, addiction, boosts immune system and improves memory. Widespread Contaminants in Drinking Water Across U.S.

'Protecting public health shouldn’t be this hard. When it comes to chemical safety, Congress should shift the burden of proof from regulators to manufacturers. A recent survey conducted by researchers at the U.S. Geographic Survey (USGS) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found traces of 18 unregulated chemicals in drinking water from more than one third of U.S. water utilities. Of the 21 total chemicals found, researchers discovered among them 11 perfluorinated chemicals, an herbicide, two solvents, caffeine, an antibacterial chemical, a metal and an antidepressant.'

But now, he continued, “in free America, cancer treatment choice is not allowed?”

Families have to flee the country, becoming fugitives from law enforcement, because children who have cancer are now being court-ordered to undergo chemotherapy or radiation. The hospitals influence the courts, which threaten the parents with arrest for refusing expensive treatments that cause their children to suffer needlessly.'

How Big Pharma Intends to Create a Generation of Drug Addicts

Post image for How Big Pharma Intends to Create a Generation of Drug Addicts

'The diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is 15% in high school children, according to recent data from the Centers for Disease Control. The number of children on medication for this disorder has risen from 600,000 in 1990 to 3.5 million today. Is this epidemic of children using psychostimulant drugs real or manipulated?

According to Dr. Kevin Conners, a psychologist and professor emeritus at Duke University, and one of the doctors who lead the fight to legitimize ADHD in the 1970′s, this is not an epidemic.

The numbers make it look like an epidemic. Well, it’s not. It’s preposterous… This is a concoction to justify the giving out of medication at unprecedented and unjustifiable levels.

Worth Repeating: Marijuana Treats Anxiety and Depression

The 75 years of (mis)information we have been fed is now being shown to be unequivocally untrue.

Yes, Big Pharma pushes drugs on us, but is there a large, legitimate need for an agent to heal our modern anxieties? Is this really a problem? Yes! The need for newer, second generation, nontoxic psychiatric medicines clearly exists, as seen in these health stories.'

14 Home Remedies For Arthritis and Joint Pain

'We take the freedom of movement for granted, until it becomes limited. The cause of this for many people comes in the form of arthritis, or the inflammation of one or more of your joints. There are two main kinds, osteo and rheumatoid, both of which affect the joint in different ways. Osteo arthritis is when the cartilage between bones wears down, until bone grates on bone.

Rheumatoid is little less straightforward, being caused by an autoimmune disorder that causes inflammation of the synovial membrane (a soft tissue that protects joints in the body) and that can lead to bone loss. Whichever you experience, there are natural remedies for arthritis to manage the pain and ease the symptoms.'

The corporate come-ons typically conclude with a phrase that has achieved cliche status in America's vernacular: "Ask your doctor if 'Suprema Wundercure' is right for you."'

Can Honey Help You Heal from Insomnia and Adrenal Fatigue?

'Honey has been used as a popular remedy to induce sleep for thousands of years.

An ancient Chinese saying calls for "eating honey every night," and European folk healers have recommended drinking a cup of warm milk with a teaspoon of honey before bedtime since the Middle Ages.

Another old-fashioned remedy is to take two teaspoons of cider vinegar with two teaspoons of honey in a glass of warm water before bedtime, while traditional Mexican healers have long prescribed a teaspoon of raw honey in a cup of warm te de manzanilla, or chamomile tea. Variations that are said to induce sleep include a teaspoon of honey in a cup of hot water, a teaspoon of honey in a cup of passionflower tea, or simply a smear of honey on a peanut butter sandwich before bedtime.'

The patients in both groups experienced significant improvement in pain, fatigue, well-being and mobility after only seven days, and this improvement increased through the study. At the end of the 24-weeks, 82% were satisfied with their treatment. The patients were 70% satisfied with their treatment results even after the first week of treatment.'
