'Johns Hopkins researchers have found that vitamin D may help fight multiple sclerosis, based on new studies involving mice with a rodent form of the disease.

In new research published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the so-called "sunshine vitamin" appeared to block damage-causing immune cells from migrating to the central nervous system, offering a potential explanation for why it may prevent or ease symptoms of the neurodegenerative disease.

Researchers said the study was prompted by observations that MS is more prevalent in regions of the world where there is less sunshine, the main natural source of vitamin D.'

Americans – Why Do You Keep Refrigerating Your Eggs?

'If you’re an American, you probably store eggs in the refrigerator – and wouldn’t think of doing it any other way.

Yet, the US is one of the only countries where chicken eggs are kept refrigerated. In much of Europe, for instance, eggs are often stored right on the counter, at room temperature.

But then, US eggs would be illegal in Europe due to an egg-washing process that may actually make them more susceptible to contamination with bacteria like Salmonella.'

Medical Errors Kill Enough People to Fill 4 Jumbo Jets a Week. - 7 Tips on Surviving The Medical Industrial Complex.

'... the dangers of the Military Industrial Complex pale in comparison to the dangers inherent in the Medical Industrial Complex.

According to one estimate there have been 7.8 million iatrogenic (deaths caused by medical examination or treatment) deaths over a 10 year period in the US - More than all the casualties from all the wars fought by the US throughout its entire history.

Dr. Benjamin Rush a Founding Father of America and a signer of the Declaration of Independence was right. America's Medical Industrial Complex has organized itself into an undercover dictatorship and is now "controlling the shots", in every sense of that expression. And they are more deadly that all of the shots fired in all of the wars that America has ever been involved in.'

Money, Politics, and Health Care: A Disease-Creation Economy – Part I

 http://www.medicinekillsmillions.com/images/death-by-pharmaceutical-drugs-medicine-thinnest-banner.jpg

'There is nothing more difficult to carry out, nor more doubtful of success, nor more dangerous to handle, than to initiate a new order of things. For the reformer has enemies in all those who profit by the old order, and only lukewarm defenders in all those who would profit by the new order.
—Niccolò Machiavelli, The Prince and The Discourses

Money in politics is making our nation sicker, threatening our national security, and ultimately destroying the very economic prosperity the “money in politics” seeks to achieve.
It is undermining our capacity to care for our citizens and is threatening our global economic competitiveness in invisible, insidious ways. However, the links, connections, and patterns that promote obesity and chronic disease are clear.

The economic and social impacts are evident. As health care consumes an increasingly large percentage of our federal budget, the negative impacts of money in politics have become too alarming too ignore and never more obvious than in this election cycle of 2012.'

Sugar Promotes Heart Disease and Cancer

'More than 1,660,290 new cancer cases are projected to be diagnosed in the US this year, and an estimated 580,350 Americans will die from the disease.1 Another 600,000 Americans die of heart disease each year.2 At present, heart disease is the leading cause of death among both sexes.

Despite massive technological advances over the past half-century, Western medicine is still at a loss for how to rein in the prevalence of these top two killers.

It’s become increasingly clear that many of the conventional strategies, from diagnosis to treatment, are riddled with flawed assumptions and approaches that, in many cases, do more harm than good.

What’s worse, virtually none of the conventional strategies actually address the root cause of the problem, a flawed diet high in sugars and processed foods.'

Why You Might Want to Rethink Going Gluten-Free

'Going gluten-free is all the rage these days. It's the diet of choice for Hollywood starlets and health nuts alike; supermarket aisles are packed full of products touting their lack of the stretchy protein. But for a lot of people, the gluten-free lifestyle may do more harm than good.
What Is Gluten?

Gluten is a sticky, stretchable protein found in grains like wheat, barley, oats, and rye. Formed during the kneading process, gluten chains create a matrix that trap carbon dioxide bubbles produced by the fermenting yeast. This gives bread its chewiness, pizza dough its stretchiness, and acts as a thickening agent in dozens of products from salad dressing to soy sauce. Even beer contains a fair amount.'

'Cerebal Palsy is an umbrella term encompassing a group of non-progressive, non-contagious motor conditions that cause physical disability in human development, chiefly in the various areas of body movement - Wikipedia

At some point very early in life, either while a baby is still growing in the womb, during birth or shortly after, something happens to interfere with the normal development of the brain or to injure the brain tissues. This abnormal development or injury disrupts the nerve signals between the brain and the muscles, leading to problems with movement, posture and coordination as the child grows up. While some people are severely affected, others have only minor disruption, depending on which parts of the brain are not functioning properly. It's estimated that as many as 1 in every 400 children may have cerebral palsy. - BBC Health

Aloe Vera Compound Found to Improve Alzheimer’s Disease

Aloe vera Compound Found to Treat Alzheimer's Disease

'Scientists from the University of Miami's School of Medicine determined that a constituent of Aloe vera reduces Alzheimer's disease symptoms and increases cognition scores.

The researchers gave a supplement with aloe polymannose – also called acemannan – to Alzheimer's patients over a one year period. They tested the subjects every three months. The researchers found that the cognitive improvements occurred in 46% of the patients taking the supplement.

The research also found that several cytokines and inflammatory factors were significantly decreased among the patients. This of course directly relates to a reduction in neuro-inflammation. Other research has determined that neuro-inflammation is symptomatic in Alzheimer's disease.'

More Evidence that Sugar Fuels Cancer Growth

'Cancer is not a curse – it is a lifestyle! You may have certain genetic risk factors for cancer, however, it is your lifestyle that activates those genes and allows cancer to develop. In fact, cancer develops over many years as a result of the combined effect of daily lifestyle choices. New research, reported in the New York Times Health blog, adds further evidence that sugar consumption – especially sugary drinks fuels the growth of cancer.

Few words have the ability to strike such fear into one’s heart as the words: “You have cancer.” In our society, cancer is viewed as a raging enemy that is stalking us, preparing to pounce when we are most unaware. However, this is simply an inaccurate view of this disease.'

He and his wife traveled to isolated locations and examined the diets of healthy people not influenced by civilization.

Others have discovered the truth about butter and disagree with butter’s bad rap as well. Butter is healthier for you than all the substitutes designed to replace butter, which actually damage your health. Instead of the margarine promo phrase “better than butter”, you might mentally replace that phrase with “butter is better”.'

How Anxiety Affects Your Brain And What You Can Do About It

 http://www.basipilates.com/rendezvous/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/anxiety-image.jpg

'Anxiety is a natural, normal response to potential threats, which puts your body into a heightened state of awareness.

When felt appropriately, anxiety is beneficial and can keep you out of harm’s way… the anxiety you may feel while hiking near a steep drop-off, for instance, will cause you to be more careful and purposeful in your movements.

For an estimated 40 million US adults, however, anxiety may occur even when there’s no real threat, causing unnecessary stress and emotional pain. While many believe anxiety and stress to be the same, persistent anxiety actually evokes quite a different experience in your brain.

Anxiety in Your Brain: What Happens When Anxiety Attacks?

Anxiety does evoke the same “fight or flight” response that stress does, which means, like stress, anxiety will trigger a flood of stress hormones like cortisol designed to enhance your speed, reflexes, heart rate, and circulation. However, stress can occur with feelings of anger, sadness, or even happiness and excitement.'

'There are lots of reasons to start practicing yoga and meditation. Yogis get to shop at Lululemon and tote around fancy rolled-up mats. Those who meditate attract admiring looks when they sit poised in lotus position in the middle of a crowded office building.

Okay, so we’re being a bit facetious. But, as it turns out, the om-and-down-dog crowd may be doing more than just jumping on the latest trend. Multiple studies released over the last few months provide solid evidence that yoga and meditation can undo the serious damage that stress wreaks on our bodies. At a time when many Americans report high levels of stress, these findings are a good reason for healthcare professionals to start recommending these techniques on a regular basis.'

The Health Benefits of Caraway Seeds

'Caraway seed has long been used, whole or ground, in northern European and other world cuisines. In the text book Handbook of Spices, Seasonings, and Flavorings, the author reports that the use of caraway goes back at least 5,000 years to Mesopotamia.

The name caraway comes from the Arabic karawya. Asian cultures refer to it as “foreign cumin” because of its resemblance in appearance and flavor to cumin. In ancient Roman, cooks seasoned sausages with caraway seeds. Hungarians flavored their famous goulash with caraway. These days, most of us associate caraway with popular German and Austrian rye bread recipes.

This fragrant ingredient contains oil with strong anti-fungal and anti-yeast properties. Simmered with milk and honey, caraway as been used as a remedy for colic.'

New analysis finds: Choice at the supermarket is a mirage (another hoax just like voting)

'Despite shelves overflowing with colorful packages, increased consolidation of the grocery industry leaves shoppers with diminishing choice and higher grocery bills.

Today, Food & Water Watch released an in-depth analysis of the consolidation of the grocery industry and the range of impacts it has on the food chain. Grocery Goliaths: How Food Monopolies Impact Consumers examines 100 types of grocery products and found that the top four or fewer food companies control a substantial majority of the sales of each item.

Most often, the biggest food manufacturers offer multiple brands in each type of grocery, giving consumers the false impression that they are choosing between competing products when in fact all the sales can go to the same parent company. Over the past few years as food companies and supermarket chains have consolidated, this illusion of choice has coincided with increasingly expensive grocery bills.'

Intravenous Vitamin C Leukemia Cure

‘Health Freedom New Zealand would like to congratulate the Dairy Farming family featured on TV3′s 60 minutes last night for insisting that their family member, Allan Smith, be treated with intravenous Vitamin C therapy – rather than accepting the medical fraternities decision to turn off his life support and let him die.

“Having been cured from Leukemia using natural products and high dose Vitamin C myself”, says spokeswoman Nicola Grace, “I am excited that finally the truth is coming out about natural cures for infectious diseases and cancer. Now that this simple, cheap and effective treatment is implicated in the spontaneous remission of what a team of specialists were convinced was a terminally fatal case of swine flu, as well as hairy cell leukaemia, it would be negligent to ignore and criminal to deny high dose intravenous Vitamin C for future swine flu and/or hairy cell leukaemia admissions” she states.’

The Truth About Essiac

sc008a5341

'On a fateful day in 1922 Canadian nurse Rene Caisse happened to notice some scar tissue on the breast of an elderly English woman. The woman said that doctors had diagnosed her with breast cancer years before. However, the woman didn't want to risk surgery nor did she have the money for it.

The English woman had met an old Indian medicine man in the 1890s who told her that he could cure her cancer with an herbal tea. The woman took the medicine man's advice, and consequently she was still alive nearly thirty years later to pass on this herbal remedy to Nurse Caisse.

About a year later, Rene Caisse was walking beside a retired doctor who pointed to a common weed and stated: "Nurse Caisse, if people would use this weed there would be little cancer in the world." Rene later stated: "He told me the name of the plant. It was one of the herbs my patient named as an ingredient of the Indian medicine man's tea!" [I Was Canada's Cancer Nurse] The "weed" was sheep sorrel. In a 1974 letter to Dr. Chester Stock of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Institute, Rene Caisse stated: "Who in the world would ever think to find a solution to cancer in a common meadow?"'
