Feds Move to Throw Pot Smokers in Prison for Impaired Driving

'If you smoked marijuana last week or even last month and you drive a car, you may be sent to prison under new guidelines drafted by the federal government.

The Obama administration released its National Drug Control Strategy guidelines last week. The federal government wants all of the states to adopt its authoritarian and draconian diktat and expand the drug war.'

Two-year-old toddlers being dosed up with antipsychotic drugs

'Children between the ages of two and five are being treated with antipsychotics at twice the rate they were ten years ago, according to a study conducted by researchers from Columbia University and published in the journal Health Affairs.

"It is a worrisome trend, partly because very little is known about the short-term, let alone the long-term, safety of these drugs in this age group," researchers Mark Olfson said.'

Statins: The Side Effects 'Are Worse Than Feared'

'The side effects of statins can be far worse than previously thought, a study suggests. For the first time, the level of harm posed by the cholesterol-lowering drugs has been quantified by researchers. They found some users are much more likely to suffer liver dysfunction, acute kidney failure, cataracts and muscle damage known as myopathy.

For some patients, the risk is eight times higher than among those not taking statins. Overall, the risk of myopathy - which may be irreversible - is six times higher for men on statins and three times higher for women.'

The Future Of Disease Prevention May Not Depend On Your Genes But Upon Ways To Turn Them On And Off

By Dr. Mercola

'The new field of epigenetics has shown that the choice of which of your genes are "expressed," or activated, is strongly affected by environmental influences.

This means that expression of your genes can change, and they are influenced by external factors.

One implication of this is that many health problems -- ranging from cancer to cardiovascular disease to neurological disorders -- can be caused at least in part by altered "histone modifications," which affect DNA.'

Your Brain Literally Shrinks

'Failing to drink enough water can make your grey matter shrink, making it harder to think, experts have warned.

Research shows that dehydration not only affects the size of the brain but also how it works.

Just 90 minutes of steady sweating can shrink the brain as much as a year of ageing, researchers believe.

Starved of water, the grey matter is also forced to work harder to process the same information.'

Hidden Sources Of MSG In Foods

By Dr. Russell Blaylock, MD

From the book 'Excitotoxins - The Taste That Kills'

'What if someone were to tell you that a chemical (MSG) added to food could cause brain damage in your children, and that this chemical could effect how your children's nervous systems formed during development so that in later years they may have learning or emotional difficulties?

What if there was scientific evidence that these chemicals could permanently damage a critical part of the brain known to control hormones so that later in life your child might have endocrine problems? How would you feel?'

Unplugging From Your Medicine Cabinet: Respecting The Body's Intelligence

by Dana Ullman

'It may be time to go on a special type of vacation: a drug vacation.* A drug vacation is a time in which you reduce the doses or eliminate entirely whatever drug or drugs you are taking. A drug vacation may give you (and your doctor) an opportunity to learn whether you really need to continue taking this drug or not. More important, this vacation will give your body an opportunity to manifest its everyday self-regulating and self-healing propensities without the crutch of a pharmaceutical agent inhibiting or suppressing its important work.'

BPA plastics chemical damages intestines, study shows

'The widespread toxin bisphenol-A (BPA) damages the intestines and may lead to a painful condition known as leaky gut syndrome, according to a study conducted by researchers from the National Institute of Agronomic Research researchers in Toulouse, France, and published in the Proceedings of the National Academy Sciences.

The study “shows the very high sensitivity on the intestine of BPA,” the National Institute of Agronomic Research said.'

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Working on Sweat-Triggered Vaccines

'The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation today announced 78 grants of US$100,000 each in the latest round of Grand Challenges Explorations. Grants include the development of a low-cost cell phone microscope to diagnose malaria, study of the strategic placement of insect-eating plants to reduce insect-borne diseases, and investigation of nanoparticles to release vaccines when they come in contact with human sweat.' The grants support research across 18 countries and six continents.'

Urban pollution 'raises blood pressure'

'City pollution, previously linked to poor respiratory health, has now been linked to raised blood pressure.

German researchers looked at 5,000 people and found long-term exposure increased blood pressure, even when other key factors were considered.

The team, which has presented its work to the American Thoracic Society, says efforts should be made to reduce exposure to pollution.

UK experts said the paper offered an "interesting theory".

High blood pressure increases the risk of atherosclerosis, a hardening of the arteries, which leads to cardiovascular diseases like heart attacks and strokes.'

George Carlin Owners- the real truth about who runs the show.

Selling Diseases

'Marcia Angell notes that industry-funded continuing medical education (CME) is marketing masquerading as education. I will focus on this critique because, in fact, CME is the pharmaceutical industry’s most important marketing tool. Through a largely unnoticed process that plays out over a course of years, the pharmaceutical industry uses CME—which, unlike other forms of drug promotion, is not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)—to prepare the market for new drugs, expand existing markets, position products against competitors, and promote unproven uses of treatments.

Here’s how it works. Pharmaceutical-company employees, or specialized vendor services, identify opinion leaders—influential (or up-and-coming) health-care professionals at academic medical centers.'

Cancer Likes Mouth-Breathers...

A very simple exercise to unblock the nose. Will work for 95% of people within three to five minutes.

'The key cause of cancer, on a cellular level, is known to professional oncologists for more than 70 years. Dr. Otto Warburg got a Nobel Prize for this discovery. He wrote in his article “The Prime Cause and Prevention of Cancer” (1966), “Cancer, above all other diseases, has countless secondary causes. Almost anything can cause cancer. But, even for cancer, there is only one prime cause. The prime cause of cancer is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen (oxidation of sugar) in normal body cells by fermentation of sugar…“ Anaerobic metabolism in malignant cells appears due to tissue hypoxia (low tissue oxygenation). Dozens of more recent studies confirmed that tissue hypoxia is the prime cause of cancer.

What does mouth breathing have to do with body oxygenation? There are at least three independent mechanisms how mouth breathing reduces body oxygenation and, therefore, promotes cancer.'

The Hidden Wikipedia: How to Find Deleted Material about Nutritional Medicine

Censors Nutritional and Holistic Health Information

There is nothing quite like a paper trail, and Wikipedia has one. Consequently, you can read for yourself all the material that has been added, and then deleted.

'For example: Wikipedia's page about Max Gerson, M.D., is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Gerson . The doctor is widely known for the nutritional cancer therapy that bears his name. Gerson's principal biographer is his grandson, Howard Straus http://www.doctoryourself.com/gersonbio.htm . Mr. Straus tells the Orthomolecular Medicine News Service of some interesting experiences he has had with Wikipedia bias:

"Some years ago, on seeing that the pages for Dr. Max Gerson and the Gerson Therapy were only stubs (short place-holders with little information on them), I took it upon myself to flesh out the pages. I thought Wikipedia was fairly neutral on balance, so I put in all the information that I could, and kept it factual with references, citations, and literature links.

"Within a month, the following had happened..."

Air tests from the Louisiana coast reveal human health threats from the oil disaster

'The media coverage of the BP oil disaster to date has focused largely on the threats to wildlife, but the latest evaluation of air monitoring data shows a serious threat to human health from airborne chemicals emitted by the ongoing deepwater gusher.'

Homeopathy is Witchcraft, say Allopathic Doctors

Big Pharma is attempting to crush Homeopathy and is launching a vicious disinformation campaign against it!

'Dr Tom Dolphin, deputy chairman of the BMA's junior doctors committee in England told the conference: "Homeopathy is witchcraft. It is a disgrace that nestling between the National Hospital for Neurology and Great Ormond Street [in London] there is a National Hospital for Homeopathy which is paid for by the NHS". The alternative medicine, devised in the 18th century by the German physician Samuel Hahnemann, is based on a theory that substances which cause symptoms in a healthy person can, when vastly diluted, cure the same problems in a sick person. Proponents say the resulting remedy retains a "memory" of the original ingredient – a concept dismissed by scientists.'

Marijuana To Control Alcohol Abuse

A new research effort has a provocative outcome as University of California-Berkeley researchers suggest substituting cannabis for treatment of heavy alcohol abuse.

'Research published in BioMed Central’s open access Harm Reduction Journal features a poll of 350 cannabis users, finding that 40 percent used cannabis to control their alcohol cravings, 66 percent as a replacement for prescription drugs and 26 percent for other, more potent illegal drugs.' Amanda Reiman carried out the study at the UC-Berkeley Patient’s Group, a medical cannabis dispensary.'

Revealed: The Very Unappetising Truth About McDonald's Chicken Meals

'A chicken squats in a shed the size of a football pitch somewhere in the outback of Brazil. And it's not alone. One of tens of thousands, each bird is allowed the floor space equivalent to a sheet of A4 paper and will live for just 40 days before it hits its genetically-engineered slaughter weight. That's if it doesn't perish along the way. Five per cent or so will be unable to cope with the conditions and die even before then.

Those that survive will be plucked and butchered in an industrial process the like of which this planet has never before seen. Every year billions of chickens will live and die in this way. Of course, South America is a long way away. But your local McDonald's is not. And that is where a significant proportion of this intensively reared meat will eventually end up.'

AMAZING! FDA: Glaxo, Merck vaccines OK despite pig virus

Now Big Pharma and FDA say it's Okay to inject Pig Viruses Directly into Your Child's Bloodstream

'Rotavirus vaccines made by GlaxoSmithKline Plc and Merck & Co Inc are safe to use despite being contaminated with a pig virus, U.S. health regulators ruled on Friday.

The Food and Drug administration, in a statement, said it was safe for doctors to resume giving patients Glaxo's Rotarix and continue using Merck's Rotateq. The agency said there was no evidence the contamination caused any harm and the vaccines were important in preventing hospitalizations and death.'

How Cheese Is Leading the Charge in the Artisan Food Movement

There's a food renaissance happening in the United States today. At the forefront of this rebirth? Artisan cheese.

'The United States is experiencing a food-quality renaissance. An increase in the number of farmers’ markets and “eat local” campaigns, a growing awareness of food quality, and a desire to appreciate the story behind the product are all influencing the way Americans are buying and consuming food. While we are still largely a nation of fast-food addicts and all-you-can-eat buffet aficionados, more and more people today are starting to care less about the size of the serving than about the quality and story of its ingredients. This awakening is not limited to those who can afford the luxury of finer foods. It extends -- and indeed originates -- from a basic need to reconnect with health, history, and the awareness of nutrition’s role in our very existence.'

11 Hidden Household Dangers

'You may have detected subtle hints that something might by awry: a persistent cough that seems related to the musty smell in your basement, the dastardly scent lingering on your hands after using the kitchen sponge, mysterious-looking paint flakes exposed deep beneath the top layer. The good news about potential health hazards around the house is that they are easy to uncover, and relatively inexpensive to correct. And the mental benefits of being proactive about these dangers are abundant. No more sleepless nights, and no more wondering whether your child is bathing in water that flowed through lead pipes. These are some of the most common–and easiest to correct–household hazards that may be lingering in your home.'

Medical Fascism: New York midwives lose right to deliver babies at home

'As residents of the world's consumer capital, New Yorkers can have anything delivered to their door at any time. They can have their hair cut in the living room, have champagne and caviar rushed to them on a whim, enjoy a shiatsu massage in their own bed or invite a clairvoyant to predict their future from Tarot cards laid out on the kitchen table.

But there is one thing that is currently unavailable for delivery to those who live in this most can-do of metropolises. Women can not legally give birth at home in the presence of a trained and experienced midwife.'
