Top 10 Health Stories of 2010

 http://healthexecnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/topten.jpg

'2010 is a year marked by an explosion in gene-related nutritional science, with significant findings to improve the health of one and all.  In contrast, the same type of gene science applied to the function of commonly used drugs is showing their true colors – toxic poisons that should be avoided for all but the most desperate use in true medical situations – and absolutely never for preventive health or the management of symptoms or numbers.

Last year I wrote the Top 10 Health Stories of 2009.  In 2009 gene exploration tools really caught on and all of the stories in 2009 are still valuable in 2010 and well worth a read in the context of the amazing explosion of nutritional science in support of health.  In 2010 I have focused on other stories which when taken along with the 2009 stories portray a major leap forward in our understanding of what you can do to stay healthy or recover your health.  And you can expect more of the same in 2011 – as the toxic bubble of Big Pharma prepares to burst and be replaced by common sense.'

The Chemtrail Conditioning Program

' "Those are normal, Mom. I even saw them on the ceiling of the Las Vegas Paris hotel!" How clever. Just like how we're seeing chemtrails more and more in advertisements, TV shows, movies....and now artwork. Like every other social engineering project, introduce it without any fanfare and work it into the fabric of the collective consciousness. That, or popularize it as a new trend.'

More Than 25% of Kids and Teens in the U.S. Take Prescription Drugs on a Regular Basis

'Gage Martindale, who is 8 years old, has been taking a blood-pressure drug since he was a toddler. "I want to be healthy, and I don't want things in my heart to go wrong," he says. And, of course, his mom is always there to check Gage's blood pressure regularly with a home monitor, and to make sure the second-grader doesn't skip a dose of his once-a-day enalapril. These days, the medicine cabinet is truly a family affair.

More than a quarter of U.S. kids and teens are taking a medication on a chronic basis, according to Medco Health Solutions Inc., the biggest U.S. pharmacy-benefit manager with around 65 million members. Nearly 7% are on two or more such drugs, based on the company's database figures for 2009.

Supermarkets: What Price Cheap Food?

THE WORST CRIME OF THE 20TH CENTURY

by Dr. Carolyn Dean, MD, ND and
Elissa Meininger

'In America and in the West, the public is conditioned to believe that modern (allopathic) medicine is the supreme healing modality. Propaganda machines that rely on media in need of content and not necessarily truth eagerly spread this notion. Scientific journal articles promoting drugs are little more than press releases by pharmaceutical companies signed by doctors for hire.

In the midst of the recent “outing” of unsafe drugs by whistleblowers; the thousands of law suits against drug companies for drug damage; and a plethora of books and articles enumerating the side effects of drugs and the hundreds of thousands of lives lost we see drug companies and the WTO determined to control of dietary supplements through Codex and international trade agreements in their global quest for power.'

Melissa Breyer Which Plastics to Never Use with Food

'Although the apron-wearing, martini-bearing, housewife-in-heels with her rainbow of Tupperware may be a thing of the past, the quest for a well-organized kitchen persists. To see tidy stacks of food-filled plastic containers in the fridge and freezer is comforting in a primal kind of way. But then comes the procession of warnings about storing and cooking food in plastic, and leaching chemicals, and hormone disruption, and ACK! So here it is: The lowdown on plastic food containers.

Flip over your favorite plastic food storage container and check the recycling code number. If you spy a number 3 or 7, well, those containers should probably go to the craft room or garage to store buttons or screws rather than food. If there is no number listed, contact the manufacturer. (And to be fair to Tupperware, they do manufacture products that are not made of these plastic types.)'

The Lethal Medical Failure That's Still Recommended by Your Doctor

by Dr. Mercola

'Even India has put a stop to this deadly experiment. But doctors and U.S. governmental agencies still insist it's essential for every adolescent girl. The death toll in the U.S. from this uncontrolled 'medical experiment' now stands at 89 with 20,575 reported adverse affects. The newest victims on the list? Nursing infants. '

Documentary Reveals The Unhealthy Profits of the Pharmaceutical Industry

'The United States healthcare industry is the world’s biggest – with $300 billion a year spent on prescription drugs alone, and rising. But recent months have seen health scandal after health scandal, with some of the world’s biggest pharmaceutical companies fined billions of dollars.
These cases are beginning to reveal vast corruption in the drug industry, with revelations of fraud, of cover-ups of fatal side effects and huge kickbacks paid to doctors. Our investigation reveals the story of how healthcare became unhealthy profit.'

European Commission reneges on assistance to European herbal practitioners

http://bandonhealthfoods.com/images/herbs.jpg

'Pressure from European Union (EU) citizens forced a recent meeting between Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and the European Commission (EC) to discuss the impact of the EC’s directive on herbal medicines which will be fully implemented EU-wide as of 1 May 2011. Unfortunately, the meeting, held at the European Parliament on the 29th November 2010, showed how unwilling the EC is to follow through on a pledge it made back in 2008. The pledge was made in the Commission’s report (COM(2008) 584 final) on its first four years of experience with the herbal directive, known as the Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive. In the report, the Commission specifically recognised that the directive was not suitable for holistic traditions, such as Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Crucially, it also indicated it would consider the feasibility of an entirely new regulatory framework for such traditions.'

For disease-fighting foods, think purple

 http://www.growinghappiness.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/purple_cauliflower.gif

'Beyond its pleasing appearance on the plate, the purple color is a cue for nutritional power.

The dark pigments responsible for the purplish tones are called anthocyanins, a type of phytonutrient, or plant compound, hailed for its potential disease-fighting benefits. Studies suggest anthocyanins may help reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes and certain types of cancer. Some evidence indicates these purple pigments may protect our brain as we age.

Anthocyanins belong to the flavonoids family of plant compounds. They are among the most potent of all phytonutrients and have gained the attention of scientists worldwide.'

India recognises risks to Ayurveda from Europe

 https://secure.gotethnicfoods.com/GotEthnicFoods/pictures/Pages/Ayurveda0003-Main.jpg

'The word Ayurveda is made up from two Sanskrit words—‘ayus’ meaning life and ‘veda’ meaning knowledge or science.  Simply put, Ayurveda can be described as the ‘science or knowledge of life’, which the early scholars understood to comprise the mind, body, senses and soul.  A view which is little changed today.  Professor Savrikar from Podar Medical College in Mumbai agreed that “unless a person is very happy mentally we can’t say he’s healthy”.

Hence it is not simply a traditional system of medicine, but more a complete philosophy for life.  Ayurveda encompasses a wide range of modalities including yoga, meditation, nutrition, detoxification, massage and the use of herb and mineral preparations.  The fundamentals of Ayurveda were laid down in Vedic scripts, the earliest of which, the Rig Veda, dates back 6,000 years and contains a number of ‘prescriptions’ to help overcome various ailments.

The aim of Ayurveda is to promote health and prolong life and in so doing eliminate disease and dysfunction.  The key to success involves focusing more on prevention, rather than cure, and by restoring and maintaining balance of body, mind and spirit.'

Emergency Food: Millions of Americans Are Heading to Foodbanks for the First Time in Their Lives

 http://www.godsmarketplacega.com/images/Food-bank.jpg

'The good news is there's no reason anyone should ever starve to death in America. The bad news is more and more working

Americans, many earning what were once middle class incomes, are spending their time and scarce money to find their next meal.

Emergency Food: More and More It's What's for Dinner
Val Traore, the radiant and gregarious CEO of the Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ), wanted to make one thing perfectly clear in our discussion of hunger in America today. "We do not have starvation here in the United States. In Mali," she says, referring to the West African country where about half the population lives below the international poverty lineof $1.25 a day, "if you live in poverty you risk starvation and death. That doesn't happen here in America." It's an important point worth dwelling on.

So what is happening here?'

GlaxosmithKline implicated in systemic clinical drug trial deception & insider fraud

‘A psychiatrist on the payroll of GlaxoSmithKline has been sentenced to 13 months in prison after pleading guilty to committing research fraud in clinical trials for antidepressant Paxil. Palazzo enrolled children who did not actually suffer from major depressive or obsessive compulsive disorder, then falsified records & psychiatric diagnoses. GlaxoSmithKline (manuf. of Paxil) paid Palazzo $5,000 for every child she enrolled in the study.

'The case’s significance goes beyond simple research fraud, as Glaxo is now defending itself against charges that for 15 years it deliberately concealed evidence that Paxil increases the risk of suicide in children. Glaxo is also defending itself against accusations that it manipulated data to conceal the risks of its diabetes blockbuster Avandia, and that it failed to warn parents that Paxil may cause birth defects if taken by pregnant women. The company has already agreed to pay more than $1 billion to settle roughly 700 birth defect lawsuits; another 100 or so suits pending.’

Swine flu pandemic outbreak sweeping through Britain even though 70 percent were vaccinated last year

The question you are not allowed to ask vaccine quacks

'The vaccine-pushing quack medical community believes that if they could magically convince 100 percent of the people to get vaccinated, they would have this problem licked. In their own minds, they have unscientifically convinced themselves that a vaccine equals automatic and full protection against a flu virus.

And yet even they won't dare ask this simple question: Of all the people sick from the flu who are right now lying in Britain's hospital beds, what percentage were vaccinated against the flu last year or this year?'

Top 5 Most Overlooked Superfoods

'In the US and the EU most of us get to eat pretty much whatever we want. We have supermarkets full to the brim with every kind of food imaginable, but increasingly people are moving away from  the simple and healthy options in favor of prepackaged meals or processed delights. Whilst these modern marvels may taste good, most of them couldn’t be considered healthy, they might get the job done (just about), but in the long-term a lot of processed foods can actually cause health problems.

It’s amazing really that people don’t stop to consider they could actually get long-term health benefits from eating the right kinds of food, instead choosing to roll the dice on future heart disease and liver failure because of a gluttonous appetite for a poor diet.

Just take a look at some of the amazing benefits you can get by regularly eating the right kind of cheap and healthy superfoods:'

You Are Being Warned

image

by Dr. Mark Sircus

'Prices are expected to increase due to inclement weather patterns influencing international commodity production and demand. Extreme cold snaps and heavy snowfall in Europe and the United States are increasing demand for oil and destroying or hurting crops; droughts and deluges in Australia are wreaking havoc on sugar and wheat production; Argentinean corn production is being threatened by weather patterns; and parts of China are expected to run short of oil and even coal in the coming winter months. “Things” are getting more expensive.

'That is a fact. Energy, metals, and the ‘softs’ (grains and cotton) are all headed higher both in the US and elsewhere across the world. In India food inflation is taking off like a plane off a runway, and China is not far behind. India’s annual food inflation went up again for another week on the back of rising prices of fruits, vegetables, and milk and stood at 9.46 percent for the week ending 4 December. Food inflation was 8.60 percent in the previous week.

'This is the second consecutive week of rise in food inflation. While prices of rice rose by 1.47 percent, vegetables went up by one percent, milk by 17.76 percent, and fruits by 19.75 percent on an annual basis. Pulses and wheat prices declined by 4.24 percent and 11.46 percent, respectively. Onions became costlier by 29.93 Readpercent on an annual basis.'

Congress sticks it to U.S. farmers with passage of food safety bill that will actually cause fresh produce to be more dangerous

http://www.sott.net/image/image/s2/44437/full/090630fascism.jpg

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger

'Because the S.510 / HR 2751 food safety bill places an enormous new burden on U.S. farmers — yes, even small farms that are supposedly “exempt” — it’s going to drive many farmers out of business.

'It will also erect new barriers to farmers entering the food production business, and this is especially true for the small local farmers who grow food for local co-ops, farmers’ markets and CSA organizations (Community Supported Agriculture). What we’re going to see from all this, then, is the following:
• A reduction in the available SUPPLY of fresh local produce.
• A loss of local farming know-how and food sustainability.
• The financial failure of CSAs, food co-ops and small local markets.
• The loss of countless jobs that were related to local food production.

• An INCREASE in the price of local food, especially organic food.'

USDA GMO Policy

The Unholy Trinity: Doctors, Dentists, and Attorneys

'People are probably not aware that it was the oligarchic Rockefeller family, heavily invested in the oil and pharmaceutical industries, which almost single-handedly narrowed American medical schools to their present focus of being pill pushers virtually to the exclusion of everything else. What is called the AMA is the dictatorial organization that enforces this monopoly on the American people.

'For over 70 years AMA monopolists have insisted on using fear tactics and implied color of law to inject our children with vaccines containing thimerosal (mercury), aluminum, and live cancer viruses. AMA doctors are pitifully educated in the field of nutrition and instead of helping their patients avoid or cure degenerative diseases, they sell them expensive drugs that mask the symptoms. There is no competing paradigm as anyone competing with the Rockefeller/AMA drug pushers is charged with a crime and locked away in prison.'

Cheap food versus quality of life

 http://pulsd.com/system/images/4750/original/cheap-food-nyc.jpg

“For decades, the federal government has watched idly while a few gigantic companies grabbed ever-greater control of the food industry. As big players gobble smaller ones, they concentrate power at the top of the food chain — and apply relentless pressure to cut costs, giving rise to many of the things I hate about the food system. Workers, farmers, the environment, animals, public health — all get abused so that mega-retailers like Walmart, meat producers like Smithfield, and corn processors like Cargill can keep costs down while profitably selling cheap food."

Monsanto’s Neotame molecule allowed in USDA certified organic foods

Neotame is an artificial sweetener made by NutraSweet that is between 7,000 and 13,000 times sweeter than sucrose (table sugar). The product is attractive to food manufacturers as its use greatly lowers the cost of production compared to using sugar or high fructose corn syrup (due to the lower quantities needed toachieve the same sweetening)

'Everyone wants to indulge a sweet tooth at this festive time of year, without suffering the inevitable consequences of weight gain. But, be aware of the hidden (not listed on ingredient labels) dangers of Neotame sweetener in almost everything consumed by humans, and now even in feed for livestock raised for human consumption.'

Cancer is Not a Disease

'Cancer is a survival mechanism. The body allows cancer, tumors and other diseases to happen in order to compensate for an underlying problem. Study: Breast-Feeding Improves Academic Performance, Especially for Boys

 http://www.babble.com/CS/blogs/strollerderby/2009/01/breastfeedingsalute.jpg

'Evidence for the long-term benefits of breast-feeding — well beyond infancy — continue to grow. In the latest analysis of the academic performance of children who were breast- or bottle-fed, researchers found that breast-fed babies scored higher on tests of math, reading and writing skills at 10 years old, compared with those who were bottle-fed as babies.

The study is only the latest to support the long-term academic benefits of breast-feeding. In a 2009 paper, scientists at American University reported that among brothers and sisters — one of whom received breast milk, and the other formula — each additional month that a sibling received breast milk was linked to a higher high school GPA and a greater likelihood of attending college. How Health Is a Human Right That's Been Taken From Us

 http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_dfcdlqqKyto/SbqeCeI4EOI/AAAAAAAAABc/TnkJ4SiMcjM/S660/health+for+all.jpg

 by Mark Hyman, MD

'Revolutions bubble out of injustice. Social, political, economic, spiritual and physical oppression drives people to rise up against violations of basic human rights. Working with Partners in Health this year, after the earthquake in Haiti, I learned from Dr. Paul Farmer that health is among the most neglected of human rights.
The injustices that violate our health as a human right occur not just in impoverished countries like Haiti, but are embedded in 21st century America. And we are exporting disease across the globe, where the overweight -- now 1.7 billion large -- outnumber the malnourished.

I would argue not only that health is a neglected human right, but that it is a right that has been taken from us.'

BETRAYED AGAIN: House Passes S510!

The Vote Is In: Congressional Mafia Rams Food Safety HR 2751 Down Our Throats!

Barbara H. Peterson
Farm Wars

Well, what did you expect from the gang of thugs and cutthroats running the District of Criminals? Yes, the Congressional mafia voted, if you can call it that, for America to slip and slide its way right into Codex food fascism by ramming the new Food Safety legislation down our throats without even a glimpse of ethics, morality, or fair play in sight.
Moments ago, the House of Representatives passed the Food Safety bill, which the Senate, in one of the most underhanded legislative maneuvers we’ve ever seen, approved late Sunday night. It now goes to the president to be signed into law. (ANH)
The next bastion of hope for those who still believe in anything that the government, state or federal, does, is to try and stop this at the state line. The following is directed at S.510, but is applicable to this situation also:
S..510 calls for the Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, to contact the governors of each state to determine which agencies within the state will contract on behalf of the state to administer the USDA/FDA federal plans for seizing control of food production and supply, handing it over to multi-national corporations and setting into motion the eradication of family and independent farms and ranches. These new “business plans” (which is what S.510 is, a business plan), require contracting with state agencies accompanied of course, by bags of USDA bribery money called “cooperative funding”. (PPJ)
I don’t know about you, but I do not for one minute believe that the governor of my state cares one lick for me or my family’s welfare and right to grow our own food and eat what we please. Therefore, I am busily planning for an organic food underground. As Codex creeps even closer to being fully implemented in the U.S., we need to get serious about preserving good, clean food. Stock up on seeds, and be prepared to do whatever you can to secure your own food supply, and to defend it. In fact, a garden in every home should keep these thugs busy until the cows come home. Stash seeds so that if you get raided, you will be able to start again. That’s what I am planning to do….just keep on a diggin’.

Bribery and Graft abound, Reid attaches S.510 to clunkers

 http://farmwars.info/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/barn_dees4.jpg

'This bill gave the FDA a lot more than mandatory recall authority, and the last place I would look to ensure food safety is the FDA.  We have only to look at the cancerous history of the FDA in regards to pharmaceuticals to know that this agency should have been the last one considered to stand guard on our food supply.  How many people have been harmed, maimed, or killed as a result of FDA approved drugs that were lethal, yet approved for use on the public?  Anything for a buck, right?   When will we see Senator Durbin on the floor of the senate lamenting that?

This bill also authorized the hiring of thousands of new agents but these new agents won’t be on the docks inspecting imports before they enter the food supply and they won’t be used to increase the number of inspections in processing plants.  No….these new agents will be attacking domestic farmers and ranchers and they will do it knowing all the while that they are infringing on idividual rights, property rights and in clear violation of multiple Constitutional protections meant to prevent this very kind of thing from happening.'

Fraudulent herbal immune supplement fails to reduce flu symptoms for 99 percent of people

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
'An FTC spokesperson, commenting on the study results, characterized the marketing of ImmunoFlu Remedy as "obviously fraudulent" and a top FDA official has publicly promised to launch a criminal investigation into the makers of ImmunoFlu Remedy in order to "protect the public from misleading health claims." Evidence has also surfaced that ImmunoFlu Remedy may contain trace levels of heavy metals linked to neurological disorders. Over a dozen children admitted to emergency rooms at hospitals across the country have been identified as consumers of ImmunoFlu Remedy, and two of those children died. The makers of ImmunoFlu Remedy are being ordered to remove the product from their website and recall the product from distributors and retailers.

As shocking as all this sounds, there's something you need to know as you continue reading this story here on NaturalNews. There is no such thing as ImmunoFlu Remedy. This story is actually about seasonal flu vaccines.

WHEN HEALING MEETS MARKETING

By Investigating Journalist Jon Rappoport

'About ten years ago, I decided that the medical cartel could become the most dangerous of all power groups on the planet. I have not changed my mind.
My decision is based on looking up the road 40 or 50 years and inferring what the picture will look like then.

It's clear to me that drug companies, as they carve up markets and create new markets, are eagerly anticipating the day when every human, from cradle to grave—actually from inside the womb—has the status of Patient.

A person is born a patient and dies a patient. And in between, he receives 40 or 50 key diagnoses of physical and mental diseases/disorders and takes prescribed drug and surgery treatments.'

None of your Beeswax - Honey in Medicine

'Well at least I'd hope not, there might be a little beeswax in there but we are looking for pure honey. I bring this up because we are going to take a look at an article from the medical literature on the medicinal use of honey as a wound dressing. Modern Western medicine, well hates may be too strong a word, but really, really dislikes this sort of approach for a number of reasons.

First and most obviously there is no money in it. This is never openly stated as an issue in treatment but once one digs around a bit one finds that gee, there aren't any free or very inexpensive treatments. Secondly, and perhaps as much of an obstacle, as businessmen will often figure out how to make money from ice cubes in the arctic, is that it is difficult to standardize and worse yet the "active ingredient" is not clearly defined.'
